PTSD, Antidepressants and Sex Dysfunction
Marijuana is the Best Therapy for All

Almost all antidepressants have the same effect of suppressing libido.

(PORTLAND, OR) - I wrote about this subject, 'Marijuana as an Aphrodisiac' in Salem-News.com which I had 66 Facebook responses, which I consider very low in regard to the subject. Maybe my readers know more about this subject than I do. I heard many complaints from veterans, that the VA had given them antidepressants for PTSD which had destroyed their libido. I guess the word got around to veteran's groups that marijuana really worked well to treat impotence and this fact came to the surface as I was taking their medical histories. I decided that further research was necessary.

I searched Wikipedia about antidepressants and found a gold mine! I knew as a professor of pharmacology, that many classes of drugs suppressed libido in males and possibly did the same for females, but I am writing about mostly male veterans here because I had about 1,000 of them as my medical marijuana patients.

From my research, I discovered that almost all antidepressants have the same effect of suppressing libido. I will name the top ten drugs of about 30 so the reader will know what I am talking about. These are Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Effexor, Celexa, Desyrel, Elavil and Cymbalta. By the way, this class seems to be the worst for this subject but blood pressure pills, sedatives such as Valium, and drugs like gabapentin, are all guilty and severe pain and PTSD must be included in the overall group.

Antidepressants are used for a whole bunch of conditions besides PTSD. In a huge test group of 2,876 patients, only 27% reached remission of depression. This is not very good. In a second course of treatment, only 30% of the remaining 1,439 patients reached remission. Only 310 patients of the group were willing to continue for reasons written in this article. After one year, 93% of patients dropped out of the program.

Getting to the guts of this subject, the antidepressants have over 1,500 adverse side effects. This should preclude any use of this type of drug. The suicide rates are so high, which is reported all over the place, it makes one wonder why any patient would take them, or any doctor prescribe them.

Sexual adverse side effects are very common with antidepressants and these side effects can last months or even years after stopping the drugs.

Sexual dysfunction averaged 59% with all drugs of this class with some rates going up to 73% for some of these drugs.

For any male, veteran or not, antidepressants are like walking in a minefield of "bouncing betty's" which raise up to crotch high and explode. In WWII they were known as 'castrators'.
