Salem-News.com

(Woodburn, Oregon) - Just after 2:00 this afternoon, Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call of a homeowner chasing burglary suspects in a vehicle. Details initially were sketchy because the 911 call had been received by NORCOM (Woodburn) dispatchers and then relayed to W.V.C.C. (Marion County) dispatchers.

Information was broadcasted to police agencies in North Marion County that a male homeowner from 20126 Butteville Rd NE was chasing two men in a gold 2000 Chevrolet Blazer as they fled his home with stolen property. The chase continued for several minutes through the City of Woodburn and South along Hwy 99E also known as Portland Rd NE. Just north of the intersection of Waconda Rd NE, the Blazer drove off the road and spun out along a ditch. Two male suspects ran from the vehicle on foot but were quickly captured as police units were arriving at the scene. The Chevrolet Blazer used in the crime had been reported stolen from Neskowin, OR on April 14, 2011 and was displaying stolen license plates.

Derrick Duenas 25, of Salem and Daniel Houston 33, of Lebanon were taken to the Marion County Jail and booked on burglary and stolen vehicle charges. Duenas is being held on a Parole Violation warrant. Houston's bail is set at $56,000. Each may face additional charges.

Officers from Oregon State Police, Gervais Police, and Woodburn Police assisted deputies in the capture of these suspects. The Marion County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation of this incident. No weapons were used and no injuries were reported.
