Freddie Mac Acting CEO David Kellermann Found Dead in his Home

The death was an apparent suicide.

(NEW YORK) - The acting CEO of embattled financial giant Freddie Mac (FRE), David Kellermann, was found dead at his home early Wednesday, police in Fairfax County police in New York.

An officer named Shelley Broderick with Fairfax PD, said Mr. Kellermann's body was found after a call that was placed at 4:48 a.m. She added that there were no apparent signs indicating foul play.

David Kellermann was a husband and father, and he had been under tremendous pressure over nation's economic crisis and Freddie Mac's associated role.

According to a company statement issued today, "Freddie Mac family is truly saddened by the news this morning of David Kellermann’s death. We extend our deepest condolences to David’s family and loved ones for this terrible personal tragedy."

The statement continued, "David was a man of great talents. He dedicated those talents to Freddie Mac for more than 16 years, serving in many business and finance capacities before recently taking the reins as acting chief financial officer."

Freddie Mac says his, "extraordinary work ethic and integrity inspired all who worked with him. But he will be most remembered for his affability, his personal warmth, his sense of humor and his quick wit. David was a friend to many in the Freddie Mac family, and we mourn his passing."
