(Salem, Oregon) - Volunteers from Comcast, Sodexo and the general public will be gardening, food repackaging, doing maintenance and advocating for Marion-Polk Food Share programs on April 30. More volunteers are welcome to participate in the huge work party. About 100 Comcast employees are expected to participate in Comcast Cares Day. They will be working on MPFS's edible landscape demonstration project and initiating an edible landscape project of their own at Comcast headquarters on Salem Industrial Drive NE. They also will work on projects around the MPFS warehouse including food repacking, sorting and maintenance. Across town at Julie's Garden, 590 Elma St. SE, and the Center Street Community Garden, 3950 Center St., Sodexo employees will be preparing the ground for spring planting. They will work side by side with garden advocates. Meanwhile at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, volunteers will be sharing information about Marion-Polk Food Share's community gardens program and grow-a-row program at Ag Fest from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 1.
