Secret Service Agents Forced Out

Poetry examines the US legal justice system's strange choice of priorities.

(CLEVELAND) - Secret Service agents are resigning their positions over a recent scandal involving prostitutes in Colombia. Sex and officials always are a big news topic of course. Too bad the same level of official intervention, 'justice', or even interest, failed to apply in the Murder of a young female soldier serving her country in Iraq, named Lavena Johnson.

Secret Service Agents Forced Out

Several Secret Service Agents are embroiled in a sex scandal,
That agency is desperately trying to figure out how to handle,
The embarrassment to President Obama & the United States,
What happened to PFC Levena Lynn Johnson is not a disgrace?

So, while no one was killed and/or assaulted or even set on fire,
These ladies of the evening are in a profession for men to hire,
However, while an Army soldier’s job is to protect and serve,
To be violated by America is no big deal, that’s a lot of nerve.

Plenty of talk, days on end and the government is acting swift,
Because of a discrepancy over an amount of the monetary gift,
Levena was only offered a deadly beating, as there was no pay,
Special Agents are being forced out while murderers walk away?

I use the plural whereas the cover-up had to be by more than one,
And it certainly wasn’t by enlisted personnel to get the job done,
Officers, contract supervisors, had to be those with serious juice,
To allow the guilty parties to escape the ramifications of a noose.

As for the President Obama he was still thousands of miles away,
Just like he & every other politician is for Levena Johnson today,
Sen. Chuck Grassley, “3 agents leaving is positive development,”
But not 1 word about the death of the girl who is purely innocent.

Two agents were serviced, $30 is not enough eventually $225 is paid,
After the woman contacted local officials, Johnson’s still in her grave,
Secret Service's, “Office of Professional Responsibility” has stepped in,
When in the heck is an agency going to do the same for Levena Lynn?

Military officials have stated culprits also include five Army Green Berets,
2 Navy guys, couple of Marines, 1 Airman, investigation’s still under way,
To avoid a conflict of interest everything should be turned over to the GSA,
And especially in Levena’s case since they could do no worse than the DOJ.

Luke Easter is a poet who writes about things that are very close to the heart of Salem-News.com. Another former U.S. Marine, Luke heals the world with an approach that reaches people on a different level, one known for centuries, yet too often forgotten in the one we live in.

We live in a world of social & economic injustice. The main reason for founding America in the first place was to relieve the oppression of the King of England. Patrick Henry said it best, “give me liberty or give me death.” And yet, all too often death seems to be the only way out. Why is there such a high suicide rate especially among teens, in the land of the free & the home of the brave? What makes headlines? Good news? Ha! More depressing stories than anything else. I feel poetry takes an edge off the hurt of bad news while still delivering it but in a, “glitzy” sort of way. Giving a different perspective. Kind of like slap in the face as opposed to a knife in the back. At least with the slap you’ll live to see another day and you will know whom it’s from. I wasn’t here for the beginning of the world but at 59, I just might be here for the end.
