(SALEM) - Salem firefighters responding to a fire in a storage shed at 3275 Lanacaster Dr. NE, noticed a separate fire burning while enroute to the first fire at 10:44 AM Tuesday. Fire Engine #3 crews say they noticed smoke coming from a field in the area. Since they were a backup engine for the first fire, they were able to investigate.

Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says that upon further investigation, they determined that a storage shed was on fire. "Engine #3 crews made an aggressive attack and quickly knocked down the fire. Other responding apparatus arrived and helped complete the extinguishment."

The owner of the shed, Joseph Quan from Rockaway, Oregon said a caretaker of the property has informed him of the fire, which caused approximately $2,500 damage to the shed and its contents.
