(SALEM) - State Representative Kim Thatcher is the first Oregon politician to contribute to Operation Red Dragonfly. It is my personal outreach mission to educate Americans about the impacts of military base chemical toxic contamination on Veterans, their families, and civilians who are affected due to residential proximity to polluted bases, many of which are closed, yet no less lethal.

Last year, during the first Operation Red Dragonfly, I covered 11,500 miles on my Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit, giving talks all over the USA about the toxic chemical TCE (trichloroethylene) that makes bases everywhere deadly, and also covering PTSD and Veteran Suicide and Agent Orange, the chemical that continues to haunt the Vietnam generation and their offspring.

The 2013 event happened largely due to support from Sacramento Motorcycle Rentals owner Jon Daggett, Coral Theill, Charlie Smith, Vic Pittman, Kevin Saunders, Leonard Lawrence, Dennis Paterka, Karin Rougeau, Charlie Smith, Jean James, Bob and Donna Collinsworth, Robert and Grace O'Dowd, Al Hayward, James Frederickson, Michael Rawlings, Gary Bennett, Veterans United for Truth, Confederation of Clubs, the King family, and others.

I strongly appreciate the donation from Kim Thatcher, I hope it inspires others in Oregon to do the same, in fact I hope that other interested parties will eventually take part in the ride and raise the visibility of this important mission.

Many who heard my talks last year were people in rural areas, sometimes older populations, and they are not all online to search for vital information. Operation Red Dragonfly 2014 gets underway next month.

Kim Thatcher share more thoughts on the importance of military Veterans.
