(Newberg, Oregon) - Due to a potential conflict with West Linn (Ore.) High School’s baseball team, the Northwest Conference baseball doubleheader between the George Fox University Bruins and the Lewis & Clark College Pioneers that was set for West Linn’s field on Saturday, April 16, has been pushed back one hour to a 2:00 p.m. start. George Fox’s home diamond, Morse Field, has basically been unplayable since mid-March due to a water-logged outfield, which necessitated the Lewis & Clark series being moved to West Linn’s artificial turf field in the first place. The high school team was scheduled to play Friday afternoon, but if that game could not be played, it would be pushed back to Saturday morning, thus the college games were moved back also. The Bruins have played only six games on their home field all season, none since March 19 against Willamette University. Two other home games were played at Willamette in Salem, a three-game series with Whitworth University was played at West Linn, and one game against Corban University this past Wednesday was played in Keizer at Volcanoes Stadium, home of the professional Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The Bruins (21-8, NWC 11-7) and the Pioneers (4-27, NWC 2-16) will conclude their three-game series Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at West Linn. Seven graduating George Fox seniors - outfielders Derek Aldrich, Nate Hickok, and Dan Winterstein, infielders Sam Stahl and Jay Kirchhofer, catcher Eric Gantenbein, and pitcher Andrew Snyder - will be honored in pre-game ceremonies before Sunday’s game.
