Corban Receives First-Ever NCCAA Ranking

Corban ranks in the Top 10 in six statistical categories.

(GREENVILLE, S.C) - For the first time ever, Corban University's softball team is ranked among the elite teams in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) following Friday's release by the national office of this week's Top 10 poll.

The Warriors, who are 18-13 overall and 10-6 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, are sitting just outside the Top 10 at No. 12 behind fellow West Region member Simpson University. According to the Burbridge Power Rankings that lists teams according to their win-loss record and strength of schedule, Corban holds a 4.710 Burbridge Ranking that is 0.221 points behind Simpson and 0.405 points outside of the Top 10 nationally.

This week's poll features Central Baptist College as the nation's top team, as the Mustangs are 35-2 overall and hold a Burbridge Ranking of 6.541. Rounding out the Top 5 are Olivet Nazarene University (35-7, 6.048), Bethel College (19-6, 5.920), Geneva College (15-7, 5.455), and Judson University (21-11, 5.375). The bottom half of this week's poll includes Campbellsville University (23-20, 5.349), Cedarville University (21-14, 5.171), Indiana Wesleyan University (16-12, 5.143), Palm Beach Atlantic University (20-14, 5.118), and Spring Arbor University (15-11, 5.115). Simpson (17-12, 4.931), Corban, and Chowan University (29-17, 4.705) all received votes and are looking to crack the Top 10 next week.

Among the team leaders in the NCCAA, Corban ranks in the Top 10 in six statistical categories that includes home runs per game (2nd - 1.19), fielding percentage (4th - 0.965), walks per game (5th - 3.16), slugging percentage (7th - 0.480), runs batted in per game (8th - 5.32), and runs per game (10th - 5.87).

Corban will return to the field tomorrow – Saturday, April 16th – in a late-morning double header against conference rival Concordia beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.
