(PARIS, France) - Yacine Le Forestier (47) previously held several editorial and management positions at AFP both in Paris and Germany and speaks fluent German. His career as a journalist began in Berlin in 1989 until 1994. From 2000 to 2005 Yacine headed up the economic service in Frankfurt and then in Berlin. Yacine acquired more experience in coordinating and managing a multilingual editorial team in Brussels. The appointment clearly demonstrates the AFP objective to develop its German subsidiary over the long term, in particular using multimedia and video products on a highly competitive market. AFP has identified sports as one of the main focuses of its international development program and has thus confirmed its commitment to this field in the run-up to the major sporting events of the UEFA Euro 2012 and the London Olympics. SID has been the undisputed provider setting the standard for over 50 years in sports coverage in Germany. The company fields nearly 60 journalists from its headquarters in Cologne and also from its various offices across Germany in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin and Munich. SID provides text services, multimedia products and video. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Agence France-Presse.
