Move Over AIPAC

“No lobby has managed to divert U.S. foreign policy as far from the American national interest… while simultaneously convincing Americans that U.S. and Israeli interests are essentially identical.”– John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt - keynote speakers

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Few Americans are aware of the enormous influence the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) wields over U.S. foreign adventures – especially in the Middle East.

The President’s and Congress’ unquestioning support of Israel’s abuse of Palestinians including piracy in international waters and murder of volunteers bringing relief supplies to Gaza and our willingness to go to war against Israel’s neighbors illustrate blind obedience to orders from AIPAC. And whenever AIPAC meets, our “leaders” hasten to be there to pledge their fealty.

It is difficult to muster attention for a peace protest or a rally for human rights and justice. So CODEPINK and the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation have strategically scheduled their protest in D.C. (May 21-24) to coincide with the annual policy meeting of AIPAC itself. (Justice First Foundation has proudly joined the long list of co-sponsors.)

Please look at the planned program and, if possible, plan to join the protests in D.C. next month.

From May 21 to 24, 2011, in Washington DC, join CODEPINK, the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and a coalition of over 80 organizations at an historic gathering "Move Over AIPAC: Building a New US Middle East Policy."

It is timed to coincide with the annual policy meeting of AIPAC, which will feature Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, members of the Obama administration and hundreds of members of Congress. The Move Over AIPAC gathering will expose AIPAC’s negative influence on U.S. foreign policy and promote an alternative approach that respects the rights of all people in the region.

The impressive list of speakers includes The Israel Lobby authors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein, writer Alice Walker, consumer advocate Ralph Nader, authors Nadia Hijab and Phyllis Bennis, Palestinian blogger Laila El Haddad, Jewish Voice for Peace Director Rebecca Vilkomerson, peacemakers Cindy and Craig Corrie, Israeli researcher Dalit Baum, human rights lawyer Noura Erakat, clown doctor Patch Adams, Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, union organizer Bill Fletcher, US Campaign to End the Israel Occupation national organizer and human rights advocate Anna BaltzerJanet McMahon from the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs and many more!

There will be trainings, workshops, press conferences, book signings, cultural events, and culminate with peaceful, creative protests outside the AIPAC convention itself.

Register today to join us in DC! Plus, sign up here and RSVP on facebook.

Spaces are limited and will fill up quickly, so sign up today! If you can’t come, please help students attend by donating to our scholarship fund.

Jews are always serrounded by antisemits and used to it.But the ugly transformation of majority of American Jews int Antisemits remind the Hellenists of the "Jewish war".The consequents are wellknown. In any case these "Jews" will be cruelly punished by the History.

... and with cruelty punish Palestinians with bulldozers because some Israel decided he wants to steal the land and his bastard government backs him.  There is not a shred of legitimacy to Israel and why should anyone care?  You guys crossed the line long ago and are the oppressors you whine about.  Every dog has his day, you guys must have been severely misguided.  Of course the non-Zionist Jews are the real Jews anyway.

Questioning the Holocaust is illegal in Europe and avoided as raciest in the United States. This censoring affirms the vigorously promoted Jewish version which maligns the instrument, but neglects the cause. Did Jews in Wiemar Germany acquire disproportionate media, financial and political power? Did their exercise of this power incite the wrath of Goyim Germans? Was the Holocaust the Third Reich's political exploitation of existing excesses and prejudices? Is there evidence of current disproportionate Jewish media, financial or political control in United States? Are Holocaust law, the Wall Street obscenity and AIPAC/Israel examples? Could censoring history facilitate repeating history?

Mhmmm...? April 11, 2011 8:38 pm (Pacific time)

Stephen Walt - cited as an authority by the authors of this piece - helped to burnish the image of Saif al-Islam Qaddafi after a visit to Libya organized by the Monitor Group. The authors of this piece are rehashing closet anti-Semitic tropes in which the eeeeevil Jews (oh, sorry. We're supposed to say "that eeeeeevil Israel Lobby," aren't we?) secretly control the United States government and, usually, the world. The reality is that Hamas is a genocidal terror group whose major goal is not a free Palestine but rather the slaughter of all Israeli Jews, and that Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyr's Brigaded is no better. The reality is that Israel is the only state in the middle east where Arabs have basic freedoms. We all hope that the Arab world will bear out the early promise of the Tunisian revolution, but until the story plays out, we won't know. In the meantime, rather than savaging the middle east's sole (60+ year old) democracy, perhaps you should be protesting against a Syrian regime that is gunning down its own people in the squares and arresting schoolchildren, or the Libyan regime that is slaughtering its people wholesale, or the Yemeni regime, or the Egyptian military, rather than continuing your mindless monofocus on Israel. Take off the anti-Semitic blinders. You'll find it easier to see the real world.
