(ONTARIO) - An unidentified adult male sought following a reported bank robbery in Ontario early Thursday afternoon was transported to a hospital after he was found suffering a gunshot wound seated in the suspect vehicle located by officers south of Ontario. Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Malheur Major Crime Team, is investigating. Preliminary information indicates on April 10, 2014 at approximately 12:27 p.m., OSP troopers were notified by Ontario Police Department (OPD) to be on the lookout for a pickup that fled a reported bank robbery at the Bank of the West in Ontario. The pickup driven by an adult male armed with a handgun reportedly fled south as OSP, OPD, and Malheur County Sheriff's Office headed along area roads to locate it. At approximately 12:35 p.m., OSP and OPD officers saw a pickup matching the description stopped on the side of Alameda Drive near Onion Avenue about two miles south of Ontario. Troopers and officers approached the pickup and found an unconscious man inside slumped over with a gunshot wound to his head. The man initially wasn't breathing and had no pulse. OSP and Ontario officers initiated emergency medical care and the man started breathing. Medics arrived on scene and transported the man to an unidentified hospital for continued emergency care. A handgun was found inside the pickup. Alameda Drive is closed at Railroad Avenue and Onion Avenue while detectives start the investigation at the scene. The Major Crime Team includes members from OSP, Malheur County Sheriff's Office, and Ontario Police Department. No other information will be released until authorized by investigators.
