(SALEM) - Salem firefighters were called out Sunday night just before 10:00 PM to a report of a fire in a detached two car garage at 2675 Lansing Ave NE.

Fire Department Spokesman Joe Parrott says initial reports indicated the blaze was well underway, "The garage was fully involved in fire, so a second alarm was called."

"On arrival firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which involved the entire garage."

Parrott says the fire destroyed two classic cars, a 1932 Mercedes coupe and a 1964 Mercedes sedan. The fire also heavily damaged the garage but did not extend to the adjacent house. There were no injuries.

The house was occupied at the time of the fire by Madira Miller, and her two adult children, Patty Mink and Reiko Miller.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and Parrott says no damage estimate is available at this time.
