Apr-03-2009 07:28TweetFollow @OregonNews Methadone Good & Safe! : Marijuana Dangerous?Dr. Phil Leveque Salem-News.comWith over 100 patients a year dying from Methadone and Oxycodone, both prescription drugs, my exalted status as the most dangerous doctor has taken a fall to the bottom.
(MOLALLA, Ore.) - On April 1, 2009 the Oregonian newspaper headlined Prescription Drugs Top State OD’s (Lethal Overdoses). The top of the list was Methadone followed by Oxycodone (Hillbilly Heroin) but included illegal drugs Heroin, Meth and Cocaine. This was not surprising to me because the above drugs have been found to be universally lethal everywhere they are available. The biggest and most hurtful aspect of this article occurred five years ago when the Oregon Medical Board revoked my medical license for helping 4000 plus patients to obtain medical marijuana use permits. The Oregon Medical Board immediately telephoned the Oregonian that “Dr. Leveque is a danger to all of his patients and the public in general”. For whatever sinister reason the Oregonian printed this with the implication that I, “was the most dangerous man (doctor?) in Oregon”. My 4000 patients thought that this was hilarious because my helping them made their lives infinitely better and actually saved many lives. I was the ONLY doctor even singled out as being dangerous although there are now 3000 doctors helping patients. With over 100 patients a year dying from Methadone and Oxycodone, both prescription drugs, my exalted status as the most dangerous doctor has taken a fall to the bottom. WHO ARE THESE DOCTORS WHO ARE PRESCRIBING THESE DEATH DEALING DRUGS? WE’LL NEVER HEAR ABOUT THEM. Dr. Frank Spokus of Ontario, Oregon who was chairman of the Oregon Medical Board asked me the initial hearing question. “Dr. Leveque don’t you KNOW that marijuana is both very addicting and very dangerous?” My hopefully educating answer to him is the front page headline in the Oregonian. There are about one thousand Methadone addicts in Oregon, there are probably a couple hundred Oxycodone addicts and fewer Meth and Cocaine addicts. So the death rate for these is HIGH. There are about 20 thousand legal marijuana users and maybe 100 thousand illegal users. There are none in danger, none addicted and NO DEATHS. My question to the totally misinformed Dr. Spokas and the ten sheep-like followers is: DON’T YOU KNOW THAT MARIJUANA IS NEITHER DANGEROUS NOR ADDICTING? Look it up on my website Salem-News.com **********************************************************

Exactly what I have been saying. Why all the yelling about marijuana when every one around us on these horrible drugs have their lives falling apart? It's crazy.
