(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Hillsboro Police made an arrest in an animal abuse case Tuesday night involving a pit bull. The dog survived the alleged abuse and is recovering from injuries in a veterinarian hospital.

It was a call from neighbors that sent officers to 860 NE Sunrise Lane in Hillsboro at 9:20 PM to investigate the report regarding the abuse of a pit bull.

Lt. Michael Rouches with Hillsboro Police, says officers contacted 22-year old Brandon Matthew Nagy of Hillsboro at the residence.

"Nagy stated he did not own a dog, and later admitted that he had a dog. The dog was located in the garage of the residence."

Rouches says investigators established a connection with the dog's injuries and Nagy.

"Based on the witness statements and injuries found on the dog's head and tail area, and the fact that Nagy had blood smeared on his hands and shoes, they had probable cause to arrest him for animal abuse-2."

Police allege that Nagy had kicked the dog and thrown it up against a shed in his backyard.

Upon checking his residence, officers say they found an AK-47 rifle under Nagy's bed. Due to the fact that Nagy is a convicted felon for prior drug charges, they also arrested him for felon in possession of a firearm.

He was lodged in Washington County Jail under $11,000. bail for the two charges.

The dog, "Kahula" a pit bull, was transported by police to Dove Lewis Pet Hospital and was treated for cuts to the head and injury to the tail area.

In my opinion, This boy should be thrown against a wall.. He should be punished severely! That poor dog did nothing to him to be treated the way it was. Dogs were put on this earth as a companion, someone you can always trust to be there.

Woah. Seriously, that man is ill. Look at his face in the mug shot. After torturing an animal. That poor dog. Thanks to whoever called the police on this guy.

Looks like he cut the dogs tail off. It looks fresh. Doesn't really look like a dog fight. This guy doesn't need this dog back anyways. I worry about that child he was holding when talking to the media. Maybe someone needs to have the state check in on the child.

Editor to David:  I understand this is an upsetting story but I had to modify your comment to keep all of us out of trouble.  Please be careful what you suggest, even if it is a fair and appropriate reward, thanks

It's too bad that the current laws forbid this...But, Don't you think that this punk Brandon Matthew Nagy deserves some multiple abuse to his HEAD and BUTT and then thrown up against a SHED!! And let us not forget to prolong any medical treatment to the punk kid!! My hope is that the dog Kahula is soon living with a wonderful loving family that will smother him with kisses, hugs, treats and long fun walks and runs!!
